I believe that our neighborhoods are worth fighting for, and that our communities are worth preserving. My parents moved from Brooklyn to Hauppauge seeking a quiet and safe suburban neighborhood to raise their children in, and that is exactly what they found. Now, I am raising my own child in the same community I grew up in, knowing how much it will help her thrive.
Unfortunately, big corporate developers don’t value our community the way I do. Across Suffolk County, those developers propose massive developments after massive developments, cashing in on their political connections, and destroying the suburban character of our communities. Overdevelopment has reached a crisis level on Long Island, and the 10th Legislative District and surrounding communities are no exception. I stand one hundred percent opposed to the proposed development on Bayview in East Islip, as well as the Island Hills proposal in Sayville. Suburban neighborhoods need to stay suburban, pure and simple. I will always be a fighter against overdevelopment. For far too long, many politicians have been in bed with big developers. I promise to put an end to that and actually fight for what our community so desperately wants and needs.
